Hi. I'm Rory.
A child of the 80s with the fashion sense of the 90s and the facial hair of the 00s. I'm also a Brit who moved to the Bay Area and finally found a place he could call home. Here are five things you should probably know about me:
I've worked on both sides of the pond
Two nations separated by a common language, right? Americans readily switch 's' for 'z' to make everything sound slightly futuristic, while we protect our vowels with... more vowels. Neither's wrong and I'm more than happy to drift between the two as necessary, but I can't guarantee I won't wince if I'm asked to spell Aluminium 'Aluminum'.
I scared myself into fitness
And found out that I really like running, road biking and snowboarding. I wish I could've played baseball, but as a Brit that was always out of reach. In hindsight, it's probably for the best: Brandon Crawford exists and there's really no competing with that.
Music's important to me
I'm not a big fan of the "Dude, who's your favourite band?" line of questioning, though. I genuinely don't care whether you're into Macklemore or Morrissey, as chances are we'll eventually stumble across something we have in common and it'll be awesome.
YOLO (You Obviously Love Owls)
Not in any kind of hip or trendy way either; they just genuinely fascinate me. They're the goofy-looking, feathery assassins of the sky, and I dig that.
And finally: why chops?
The simple answer: I used to sport sideburns so powerful that Wolverine - he of equally excellent sideburns - would weep into his Adamantium claws when confronted by them. I finally upgraded to something resembling a beard about three years ago. Because San Francisco.
